Which of these 3?
They are not variations of one license. Which you want changes what you have to study and what you may sell.
- Independent Adjuster No course No course sold
Adjusts claims in Kentucky for insurers under contract rather than as their employee. Kentucky asks no prelicensing course of an adjuster and does ask an examination, and the license carries whichever of three lines of authority the applicant qualifies for: property and casualty, workers' compensation, or crop.
- Public Adjuster No course No course sold
Adjusts claims in Kentucky on behalf of the insured rather than the insurer, in property and casualty or crop. Kentucky is not issuing this license at present: for two years from April 13 2026 the commissioner may neither accept an application for one nor issue one, so the routes below describe a license that reopens in 2028 and a small set of people who can still reach it now.
- Staff Adjuster No course No course sold
Adjusts claims in Kentucky as an employee of the insurer whose claims they handle. The qualifications and the three lines of authority are the independent adjuster's, and the one thing that differs after licensing is that the Department excludes staff adjusters from continuing education.
