What this information is

A summary of what states publish about insurance licensing, assembled for comparison. It is not legal advice, not professional advice, and not an authority. Your state's insurance department is the authority, and where it and this site disagree, it is right and we have a defect to fix.

Requirements change, and they have been changing

Hour counts, fees and exam rules are amended, and in recent years several states have dropped their pre-licensing course requirement altogether. A figure here is accurate as of the date shown beside it and no later. Check it against the department before you spend money on the strength of it.

Course prices and providers

Prices are read from provider sites on the date shown and go out of date without warning. What you are charged at checkout is what the provider charges. Nothing here is an offer, and no course is sold on this site.

Outbound links go to providers and state departments we do not control, and we are not answerable for what those sites contain or do.

Accuracy and liability

The site is provided as it is. We work at accuracy, we date every figure, and we render a gap rather than a guess where something is unconfirmed, but we do not warrant that everything here is correct or current. So far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from a decision you make on the strength of this site. What we will do is fix an error once we know of one.

Using our content

The writing, layout and assembled comparisons here are ours. Quote a passage with a link back and that is fine. Republishing pages wholesale, or scraping the comparisons to rebuild them somewhere else, is not.

These terms change when the site does, and the date at the top moves with them.
