Getting licensed without taking the course
Most guides to Florida insurance licensing describe one path: take the pre-licensing course, sit the state exam, apply. For a lot of people that is the right path. It is not the only one, and the Department publishes 32 professional designations it accepts in place of the course.
Several of them skip the state examination as well. If you already hold one of these, the course you were about to buy may be something you do not need.
2 licenses where the course is not an option at all
- 4-40 Customer Representative Qualified for by designation, degree or experience. There is no pre-licensing course requirement for it.
- 6-20 All Lines Adjuster Qualified for by designation, degree or experience. There is no pre-licensing course requirement for it.

What this page is not
It is not a shortcut. Every designation above takes real study, and most take considerably more of it than a pre-licensing course does. The point is narrower: if you already have one, because a previous job paid for it or because you came from another part of the industry, Florida may already count it, and nobody selling a course has any reason to tell you so.
Each row is read from the Department's own qualification document for the license it counts toward. Follow the license link for the exact wording, the recency window that applies, and the date we read it.
