The Washington Crop Adjuster license
Crop Adjuster
Adjusts crop losses, and it is the one Washington license with a pre-licensing education requirement in front of it. Which requirement depends on the crops: a private-market-only adjuster sits the state paper, and anybody touching federal crop insurance takes the Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program instead, whose courses and examinations only one organization runs.
Course
No count
A course is required and the regulator publishes no hour count for it.

Priced per paper. The prices are below.
Either combination is $55. Each single paper is $38.
Every way to qualify
More than one route leads to this license, and which one you take changes what you study and whether you sit the exam. They are listed in full because the course is only the first of them.
-
Route 1 Adjust federal crop insurance, and hold CAPP certification
Exempt from the state exam
-
A pre-licensing course in the Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program, whose courses and examinations the Office describes as pre-licensing education
This is the whole of Washington's live pre-licensing education requirement and it does not belong to Washington. The Office writes it in its own words: Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program certification "requires the completion of pre-licensing education courses and the successful completion of a series of exams", it is annual rather than once, and "CAPP certification courses and exams are only offered by National Crop Insurance Services". A Washington resident who holds it does not sit the Washington crop adjuster paper at all, which is why this route requires no state examination. The same answer covers an adjuster handling both federal and private-market crops: the Office asks for CAPP and nothing else. No hour count is published for it anywhere, by the Office or by the program, so this route carries none. RCW 48.17.420(1) is the other end of the same rule: a producer may not adjust crop claims without either this license or, as a salaried employee of an insurer or managing general agent, CAPP certification on its own.

Route 2 Hold a crop adjuster license elsewhere, on education and a paper like Washington's
Exempt from the state exam
-
a crop adjuster license, or a substantially similar license, in another state
- or
A pre-licensing course in whatever a resident Washington crop adjuster's own pre-licensing education covers, where the applicant's home state licenses no crop adjusters
RCW 48.17.110(2)(d) is the only nonresident exemption in the section written around education rather than around a license. It asks the applicant to hold a crop adjuster license or a substantially similar one in another state and to have completed prelicensing education and passed an examination substantially similar to Washington's, or, where the applicant's state licenses no crop adjusters at all, to complete substantially similar prelicensing education and pass such an examination anyway. RCW 48.17.420(4) is the separate exemption for a nonresident adjusting a single loss or a catastrophe's worth of crop losses, open to a crop adjuster licensed elsewhere, to anybody certified by the federal Risk Management Agency, and to a salaried employee of an insurer or managing general agent with CAPP certification. It asks for no registration, where the general emergency adjuster's exemption does.

Route 3 Adjust private-market crop losses only, and pass the state paper
State exam required
The Office splits the license three ways by what the applicant will adjust, and this is the narrowest: private-market crop insurance only. A Washington resident takes and passes the Washington crop adjuster examination through PSI and then applies. RCW 48.17.110(1) is the statutory requirement and it names the crop adjuster expressly. Note what does not help here. The examination exemptions at RCW 48.17.110(2)(b) and (c), the year of salaried claims employment and the nonresident's home state license, are both drafted "with the exception of crop adjusters", so a crop applicant sits the paper on the strength of experience that would have excused an independent or public adjuster from it.

A course is required and nobody sells one
No national seller sells a course for this license. This is the one Washington license with a pre-licensing education requirement in front of it and no school on this site can satisfy it: the Office says the Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program's courses and examinations "are only offered by National Crop Insurance Services". Nobody sells preparation for the state's own WA Crop Adjuster paper either, which the Office reports separately from WA Adjuster and which the four sellers with a Washington adjuster product do not name.
