Every way to qualify
More than one route leads to this license, and which one you take changes what you study and whether you sit the exam. There is no pre-licensing course among them: this license is qualified for by a license already held or applying for it with no examination anywhere.
-
Route 1 Apply as a business entity
No state exam for this license
Designated responsible producer
-
One licensed individual named as the designated responsible producer for the business entity application.
and register of travel retailers
-
A register of each travel retailer that will offer travel insurance on the supervising entity's behalf, on the form included with the application.
The Department issues this license to an individual or to a business entity, and the two limbs differ in who has to hold the producer license: an individual applicant holds it personally, and a business entity applicant names a designated responsible producer who does. The license expires annually on 1 March and the renewal is the same $750.

Tenn. Code Ann. 56-6-1401 through 1407, effective 2016-01-01. The Department's own definition of what sits underneath: "A travel retailer means a business entity that makes, arranges, or offers travel services and may offer and disseminate travel insurance as a service to its customers on behalf of and under the direction of a travel insurance supervising entity."The travel retailer itself is not licensed here, which is why the register is part of the application rather than a filing afterwards.

Tennessee sets no examination and no course for the travel insurance supervising entity. No national seller prices a product for it.
