    • A sworn application on the commissioner’s form naming the employee, officer or authorized representative responsible for compliance, and the location of the home office; and, where more than half the applicant’s revenue comes from this insurance, the same information for every officer, director and holder of ten percent or more of any class of securities registered under federal securities law

    RSA 402-O:2, I requires the owner to hold a limited lines license, and adds an exception worth knowing before assuming a facility needs one: no license is required solely to display and make available brochures and promotional materials created by or for the insurer. RSA 402-O:2, II covers the owner’s employees and authorized representatives at every location. RSA 402-O:2, V is the finding: owners, their employees and their authorized representatives "are exempt from all examination and education requirements under RSA 402-J in regard to self-service storage insurance". Thirty-two states on this site carry a license of this kind and Rhode Island issues none at all, exempting the owner instead; New Hampshire licenses the owner and then exempts the license from everything a license usually asks. The fee is tiered by size: RSA 402-O:5, V caps it at $500 initial and $250 renewal, but at $150 for an owner selling at ten or fewer locations in the state. Licenses expire on the second 31 May from issue. A license allowed to lapse can be reinstated within 24 months at double the unpaid renewal fee.
