Every way to qualify

  1. Route 1 Apply and satisfy the Commissioner's investigation

No state exam for this license

    What the Commissioner must find

    • Competence, trustworthiness and an intention to act in good faith; a good business reputation and, for a natural person, experience, training or education qualifying them in the capacity; a certificate of good standing from the state of domicile, for an organization; and a fraud prevention plan

    and evidence of financial responsibility

    • A surety bond complying with NRS 679B.175 in an amount the Commissioner sets, which cannot be less than $250,000, or a deposit of cash or certificates in the same amount

NRS 688C.200 and 688C.210 license the broker of viatical settlements on the same terms as the provider, with one difference the statute draws itself: the detailed plan of operation at 688C.210(1)(a) is asked of a provider and not of a broker. The fraud prevention plan and the financial responsibility of (e) are asked of both, at a floor of $250,000 by surety bond under NRS 679B.175 or by a deposit of cash or certificates. There is no course, no hour count and no examination. A separate and cheaper arrangement exists for somebody who already sells life insurance: NRS 680B.010(31)(c) prices the registration of a producer of insurance acting as a viatical settlement broker at $250, against the $500 this license costs, and the chapter records that a producer of insurance with a life qualification is not required to be licensed as a broker in the ordinary way.
