Every way to qualify

  1. Route 1 Apply as the operator, and file the training program

No state exam for this license

    The application and the lists

    • A written application signed by an officer of the applicant, a list of every Nebraska self-service storage facility at which it conducts business, and, on the director's request, a list of all employees who may act on its behalf and under its supervision. The list of facilities and employees goes to the director quarterly once the license issues, which the rental car section does not require.

    and the training program

    • A training program meeting Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-4069(9), filed with the application. Again the operator's own staff training, with no hours set.

    and the insurer's certificate

    • A certificate executed by the insurer stating that it will appoint the applicant as insurance producer for the kinds of insurance the section names if the limited license issues.

    and the fee

    • Not more than $100 for the application and not more than $100 a year on renewal, due on the anniversary of issuance; the Department's schedule charges $50.

Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-4069. The examination statute names it: 44-4052(1) requires a written examination "unless exempt pursuant to section 44-4056 or 44-4069 or subsection (4) of section 44-9304", so the three exemptions Nebraska writes into the producer paper are reciprocity, self-service storage and travel. There is no pre-licensing course. The quarterly list at 44-4069(4) is the practical difference from the rental car license, which files its list once.

No national seller sells a course for this license. Aceable does not sell Nebraska at all. There is no examination, because 44-4052(1) exempts this licensee from the producer paper by name, and no course. The training is the operator's own program for its staff.
