The Nebraska Rental Car Limited Line license

Rental Car Limited Line

The rental counter's license. Nebraska writes a franchise of a rental car company into the definition rather than out of it, so a franchisee is covered by the franchisor's license, and the training the counter staff get is filed with the application.

No state exam for this license

    The application and the lists

    • A written application signed by an officer of the applicant, a list of all Nebraska rental locations, a list of all employees who may act on the applicant's behalf and under its supervision, and a copy of the contract between the insurer and the applicant.

    and the training program

    • A training program meeting Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-4067(10), filed with the application. It is the company's program for its own counter staff rather than anything the applicant studies, and no hours are set for it.

    and the insurer's certificate

    • A certificate from the insurer to be named in the limited license, signed by an officer or managing agent, stating that it will appoint the applicant as insurance producer for the kinds of insurance the section names if the license issues.

    and the fee

    • Not more than $100 for the application and not more than $100 a year on renewal, due on the anniversary of issuance; the Department's schedule charges $50.

Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-4067, inside the Insurance Producers Licensing Act. There is no examination for the limited licensee and no pre-licensing course. The definition at 44-4067(2)(c) is where Nebraska differs from Illinois, which makes a franchisee apply on its own: here "rental car company includes a franchise of a rental car company", so the franchise is inside the licensee rather than beside it.

No national seller sells a course for this license. Aceable does not sell Nebraska at all. There is no examination and no course for the licensee, and the training the statute does require is the rental company's own program for its counter staff, filed with the application rather than bought.
