The Nebraska Motor Club Representative license
Motor Club Representative
Sells motor club memberships, the roadside package that is regulated as insurance in Nebraska. It is the only license in this state where a course can take the place of the examination, and at $5 a year it is the cheapest license the Department issues.
Course
No count
A course is required and the regulator publishes no hour count for it.
Ways in
3
2 of them skip the state exam.
Exam
$43
Required on some routes and not others.
Every way to qualify
More than one route leads to this license, and which one you take changes what you study and whether you sit the exam. They are listed in full because the course is only the first of them.
-
Route 1 Complete an authorized Motor Club Training Course
Exempt from the state exam
The training course
-
A pre-licensing course in the services customarily offered by motor clubs, approved by the motor club, which under 44-3716(2)(c) is who gives the training; PSI's bulletin calls it an "authorized" course and neither the bulletin nor the statute says who does the authorizing
and registration by the club
-
The club registers the individual with the director within thirty days of designating them a club representative, on the director's form, with the representative's identity, business address, personal history and business experience. The individual does not apply on their own account.
PSI's candidate information bulletin carries the Motor Club paper with a footnote that runs under the whole table: "No exam is required if the applicant has completed an authorized Motor Club Training Course."That is the only course anywhere in Nebraska licensing, and it is an alternative to a paper rather than a condition on top of one. The statute behind it is Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-3716(2)(c), which qualifies a club representative who has "received training from the club or have otherwise qualified by experience in the business of clubs rendering motor club services": the training belongs to the club, and the bulletin is where the Department turns it into a route past the examination. Nothing publishes a list of authorized courses and no national seller offers one.

Route 2 Already hold the accident and health line
Exempt from the state exam
The producer license
-
a Nebraska insurance agent license for sickness, accident and health insurance
and registration by the club
-
The club still registers the representative with the director; only the examination falls away.
The last sentence of Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-3716(1): "A club representative licensed as an insurance agent for sickness, accident, and health insurance pursuant to Chapter 44 shall not be required to be examined."It names that one line and no other, so a property and casualty producer selling motor club memberships sits the paper and a health producer does not.

Route 3 Sit the motor club paper
State exam required
The examination
-
PSI's Motor Club paper, exam series 13-13, 40 items at $43 with a cut score of 70 percent or 28 correct. It is the shortest paper Nebraska gives.
and registration by the club
-
The club registers the individual with the director within thirty days of designating them a club representative.
Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-3716(1) is permissive about the paper rather than mandatory: "The director may require a club representative to take a written examination, for a fee, on the services customarily offered by motor clubs."The director does require it, which is why PSI publishes it. 44-3716(2) adds the rest: eighteen years of age, a trustworthy person of good repute, and the training or experience. The registration is renewed annually for $5 and the club notifies the director in writing within thirty days when a representative's authority ends.

A course is required and nobody sells one
Aceable does not sell Nebraska at all. This is the one Nebraska license with a course route, and no national seller offers the course. The authorized Motor Club Training Course belongs to the motor club under 44-3716(2)(c), the Department publishes no list of authorized courses, and nothing sold anywhere would satisfy it.
