The Nebraska Limited Line Credit Insurance license
Limited Line Credit Insurance
Credit insurance sold alongside an extension of credit in Nebraska. Nebraska writes the word limited into the line's own name and then asks for the examination anyway, because its only examination exemptions are for people licensed elsewhere, self-service storage operators and travel insurance producers. No pre-licensing course is required.

Every way to qualify
More than one route leads to this license, and which one you take changes what you study and whether you sit the exam. There is no pre-licensing course among them: this license is qualified for by sitting the examination, a license held in another state or moving here already licensed.

Route 1 Pass the examination
State exam required
Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-4052(1) asks a resident individual applying for a producer license to pass a written examination unless exempt under 44-4056, 44-4069 or 44-9304(4), and 44-4053(1) is the closed list of what the director must find before approving the application: at least 18 years old, no act that is a ground for denial under 44-4059, the fees at 44-4064 paid, and the examinations passed for the lines applied for. No course is in it, which is where Nebraska's zero is read. Nebraska also has no cap on how many times the examination may be sat: 44-4052(4) says only that somebody who fails or misses one reapplies and pays again. Read the exemptions rather than the label on this line. Nebraska's three examination exemptions are 44-4056 for somebody licensed elsewhere, 44-4069 for the operator of a self-service storage facility and 44-9304(4) for a travel insurance producer. None of them reaches this line, so calling it a limited line in the statute's own heading does not excuse it from the test, and Nebraska differs from Missouri and Arizona on exactly this point.

Route 2 Hold the same line in another state

an insurance producer license carrying the Limited Line Credit Insurance line of authority in another state
Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-4056(1). Somebody previously licensed for the same lines of authority in another state completes no examination. The exemption holds while that other license is current, or if the application arrives within 90 days of its cancellation and either the prior state certifies good standing at that point or the NAIC producer database shows it for the line being asked for.

90 days Licensed as an insurance producer in another state carrying the Limited Line Credit Insurance line of authority there, and applying to become a Nebraska resident licensee within 90 days of establishing legal residence.
Neb. Rev. Stat. 44-4056(2). Somebody licensed as a producer in another state who moves to Nebraska has 90 days from establishing legal residence to apply as a resident licensee under 44-4053, written as a duty rather than an option. No examination is required for a line of authority previously held in the prior state except if the director determines otherwise by rule and regulation.

No national seller sells a course for this license. Aceable does not sell Nebraska at all. PSI's bulletin prints "No exam required" against Credit, so there is no paper to prepare for, and the only instruction anywhere near the line is the program 44-4053(4) makes the credit insurer give its own people.
