The Mississippi Reinsurance Intermediary Manager or Broker license

Reinsurance Intermediary Manager or Broker

Binds or manages all or part of a reinsurer's assumed business as its agent. Mississippi issues one license here where most states issue two, the manager's and the broker's: the application, the instruction sheet and the fee are all single, and the Department's own definition runs the two roles together in a single sentence.

The Department's definition: "Any person, firm, association or corporation who has the authority to bind or manage all or part of the assumed reinsurance business of a reinsurer and acts as an agent for such reinsurer whether known as a reinsurance intermediary manager, broker or other similar term."One form covers manager and broker, individual and entity are priced separately at $50 and $100, and no examination or pre-licensing course appears. The license is not renewable online; the Department emails invoices in the third week of December and takes them back on paper. Where the license lapses there is no penalty fee, only a new application and a gap in licensure, which is unusual on this schedule: the managing general agent and the supervising general agent both carry a fifty percent late charge.

No examination and no pre-licensing course. No national seller prices a Mississippi product for it.
