  1. Route 1 Take the 20-hour course

    State exam required

    • 20 hours of pre-licensing education for the Independent Adjuster line, approved by the Department

    Twenty hours on the Department's own pre-licensing table, or demonstrated experience instead. The paper is the combined Property and Casualty with Workers Compensation adjuster examination at Pearson VUE, two hours and 60 questions, which the Department's adjuster page calls the General Adjuster outline.

  2. Route 2 Demonstrate experience instead of the course

    State exam required

    • Experience or special education or training of sufficient duration and extent to make the applicant competent, which the statute does not put a period on

    The Department's 2018 instruction sheet puts the substitution in its own words: "In lieu of completing an approved independent adjuster prelicensing education course, an applicant may submit written proof to the Department that he/she has had experience or special education or training with reference to the handling of loss claims under insurance contracts of sufficient duration and extent to make him/her competent to fulfill the responsibilities of an independent adjuster."No period is set anywhere, which is why no minimum is shown. Miss. Code Ann. 83-17-511(1)(d) is the section behind it and the Mississippi Code is published only through the LexisNexis viewer, which serves no free per-section URL.

    WEBCE, INC holds "MS Property & Casualty With Workers Compensation", course 24617, 20 credits, Self-Study, On-line Training/Webinar, active 16 February 2023 and renewing 28 February 2027. Twenty credits is exactly the pre-licensing figure Mississippi asks of an adjuster, and the course is named for the paper this license takes. WebCE's own page prints an hours column beside each package: 20.0 against both Complete Packages and nothing against the Exam Tutor, and its FAQ describes the Complete Packages as the pre-license education, ending in a closed-book monitored certification exam at 70 percent and a certificate valid two years. So the two priced here are the twenty hours and the tutor is not
