The Mississippi Automobile Club Agent license
Automobile Club Agent
Sells automobile club service contracts in Mississippi, which are not insurance policies and which the Department licenses anyway. The privilege tax is five dollars, the smallest figure on the Mississippi schedule, and the qualification is that the club endorses the applicant as knowing the difference between its product and a policy.

The applicant must be knowledgeable in the field of automobile service contracts, understand Miss. Code Ann. 83-11-237, and understand the difference between an automobile service contract and an insurance policy. The Department sets no period and no syllabus for this, so no figure is recorded.
Six of the nine numbered steps on the Department's instruction sheet are administrative and two are the substance: the endorsement, and the knowledge finding. "No examination is required." "There are no certificates of authority issued with this license", which means the holder is not appointed by an insurer the way a producer is. The privilege tax is $5.00 and the renewal $5.00. The term runs 1 April to 31 March and expires every 31 March whatever month the license was issued in, so an applicant who files in March buys a few weeks. 19 Miss. Admin. Code Part 4, Chapter 1 regulates the contracts themselves under Miss. Code Ann. 83-11-201 through 83-11-247.

No examination and no pre-licensing course: what qualifies the applicant is the club's own endorsement. No national seller prices a Mississippi product for it.
