The Indiana Self-Storage license
Self-Storage
Lets a storage facility sell cover on what a tenant leaves in the unit. It is the limited line the Department's examination table leaves out and the statute puts in, and it works exactly like the portable electronics license beside it.

Who applies
-
The self-storage facility. A facility may not sell, solicit or negotiate self-storage insurance without the license, and holding it authorizes the facility and each of its employees and authorized representatives to sell at each of its Indiana locations without any of them being individually licensed.
and a training program run by somebody else
-
The insurer either directly supervises the program or appoints a supervising entity to. Training reaches every employee and authorized representative directly engaged in selling self-storage insurance, before they sell any of it, and it is developed and overseen by employees of the supervising entity who hold Indiana producer licenses. It may be delivered electronically, and continuing training follows on a periodic basis.
and written materials at every location
-
Materials available to customers at each location saying that the cover may duplicate a homeowner's or renter's policy, that an insurance requirement in the rental agreement can be met with other cover instead, the insurer's and any supervising entity's identity, all costs, the deductible, the benefits, the key terms, how to claim, and that a customer may cancel at any time and get unearned premium back.
IC 27-1-16.1-8(a) requires a limited lines producer's license issued under IC 27-1-15.6-18, and IC 27-1-15.6-18(6) is the subdivision that issues it without examination. The Department's table of licenses requiring and not requiring an exam names credit, title, travel and portable electronics and stops there, so this license is on the statute's list and not on that one. It is built because the statute has the commissioner issue it and because the portable electronics license one subdivision above it works identically and is on both lists. IC 27-1-16.1-9 gives the supervising entity the registry of selling locations, open to the commissioner on ten days' written notice.

No national seller sells a course for this license, and nothing could. The self-storage facility is licensed with no examination and no course, and the only instruction anywhere near it is the training the supervising entity gives the facility's own employees.
