Who applies
-
The vendor, meaning the person in the business of selling or leasing portable electronics. A vendor may not sell, solicit or negotiate portable electronics insurance without this license, and holding it authorizes the vendor and each of its employees and authorized representatives to sell at each of the vendor's locations without any of them being licensed.
and a training program run by somebody else
-
The insurer either directly supervises the program or appoints a supervising entity to. Training reaches every employee and authorized representative directly engaged in selling portable electronics insurance, before they sell any of it, and it is developed and overseen by employees of the supervising entity who hold Indiana producer licenses. It may be delivered electronically, and continuing training follows on a periodic basis.
IC 27-1-15.9-10(a) requires the limited lines license and IC 27-1-15.6-18(5) is where the commissioner issues it without examination. The Department's own table of licenses not requiring an exam names portable electronics among the four. The training at IC 27-1-15.9-10(c) is the only instruction anywhere near this license and it is written by the supervising entity for the vendor's own staff rather than sold to an applicant, which is why nothing on a course list could satisfy it.

No national seller sells a course for this license, and nothing could. The license goes to the vendor with no examination and no course, and the training that does exist is written by the supervising entity for the vendor's own staff rather than sold to an applicant.
