Route 1 Take the 16-hour course

16 hours of prelicensing course covering property and casualty, approved by the Department
The Office offers the individual Property course and the individual Casualty course at eight hours each, and the sixteen-hour course is the two of them. You must select both lines when applying: Georgia does not license one without the other.

Route 2 Hold one of the designations the Commissioner accepts for this line
Exempt from the state exam

CPCU Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter, from the Insurance Institute of America
A copy of the designation is attached to the application. Georgia waives the examination as well as the course, so this route reaches the license without sitting anything.

Route 3 Move to Georgia holding the same lines and apply within 90 days
Exempt from the state exam

90 days Licensed for these same lines in the previous home state, with that license active at the time of the move. The original clearance letter from the prior home state is attached to the application.
Georgia waives the prelicensing course AND the examination on this route, which is not how most states write it.
