The Georgia Retail Vendor of Portable Electronics license
Retail Vendor of Portable Electronics
A limited license for the retailer that sells cover with a phone. One license covers the whole chain, because rule 120-2-3-.39(5) requires it only for the principal location or home office, and the Department has to approve the retailer's own training program before the retailer may even apply.

The applicant certifies that all employees have received basic training as to the types of insurance products specified in O.C.G.A. 33-23-12(d)(5). The instructor and the prelicensing training program must be approved by the Department before the application is made, and approval is requested by submitting a course outline and the instructor's resume. In lieu of writing a course of its own the vendor may require its employees to complete the property and casualty prelicensing course from an approved provider.
Rule 120-2-3-.39(3) and (4) are one line each: no examination and no continuing education. Rule 120-2-3-.09(1)(f) names rule.39 among the limited licenses the examination does not reach. The training is worth reading carefully before calling it a course requirement, because it is the licensee's duty and not the applicant's qualification: the person at the counter is not the licensee and does not hold anything. That is the line Maryland's motor vehicle rental company and portable electronics vendor drew on this site on 2026-08-19. Georgia goes one step further than Maryland in a way worth recording: 120-2-3-.39(7) makes the Department's approval of the instructor and the program a condition of the vendor's own application, so the vendor cannot apply until the Department has passed the training it will give somebody else. No sponsorship by an insurer is required and no certificate of authority is needed. Licenses issued from 2012-07-01 run biennially.

No national seller sells a course for this license. What the Office names as the ready-made alternative to a vendor writing its own program is the ordinary property and casualty prelicensing course from an approved provider, which five of the seven do sell and which sits on the Property and Casualty page rather than this one: it is bought for an employee who will not hold this license.
