Sells securities within California for an insurer or a broker, for compensation. Kansas is the only other state here whose Insurance Commissioner licenses somebody to sell shares rather than insurance, and like Kansas's this one has no renewal fee on the schedule.

Employment or appointment by an insurer or a broker, which section 825 makes part of the definition rather than a condition added to it
California Insurance Code section 825: "A Stock Agent is a person employed or appointed by an insurer or broker who, within this State and for a compensation, sells any security."Prelicensing education, continuing education and the examination are all Not required, the entity type is Individual only, and California residency is required. The Department's fee schedule prices it $150 and prints N/A in the renewal and late renewal columns, which is what it does for the two other instruments that do not renew, the apprentice public insurance adjuster and the reinsurance intermediary.
