    Underlying licenses

    • a California Property Broker-Agent license AND a California Casualty Broker-Agent license

    • or

      for a nonresident, both of those plus a Special Lines' Surplus Line Broker license in the applicant's resident state

    and bond

    • a bond in the penal sum of $10,000

    The Department states the requirement in the same words it uses for the surplus line broker, changing only which home-state license a nonresident must hold: "Must hold a Property Broker-Agent, Casualty Broker-Agent license (resident and nonresidents) and a Special Lines' Surplus Line Broker license in resident state (nonresidents)."Eighteen years of age, no California residency requirement, individual or business entity. The two licenses share a row on the fee schedule and therefore the same $646 or $1,296 depending on whether the licensee transacts only for a surplus line broker business entity.
