The Department's qualifications page answers the three questions in three words: prelicensing experience or education Not Required, continuing education Not Required, examination Required. That makes this the one California life class with no course in front of it and none behind it either, where the life agent still takes twelve hours of ethics and the Insurance Code under section 1749.1 and twenty-four hours of continuing education after. Eighteen years of age, and California residency is not required. The Department's fee schedule prices the license at the life agent's figures throughout, $188 to file, $188 to renew and $282 late.
