The California Credit Insurance Agent license
Credit Insurance Agent
Lets a business sell credit insurance and take commission without anybody there holding a life agent or property and casualty broker-agent license. It is the only California license that must be renewed annually rather than every two years, and its endorsees are registered and renewed annually too, at $45 each.

The Department describes the point of the license in its own first sentence: it "permits a business to sell credit insurance, and receive a commission, without having to be licensed as a life agent and/or property and casualty broker-agent". The training is filed rather than taken, and it is the endorsee who certifies having had it: each employee registered as an endorsee completes an Employee Affidavit of Training and Knowledge on form LIC CI 50, certifying that they have completed the required training and are knowledgeable about the products, ethics and market practices. A business need only register the employees it pays commission to. $449 to apply and $410 to renew, annually, with $45 for each endorsee.

The training here is written by the licensee or adopted from an insurer's approved materials and filed with the application, and California gives no credit insurance examination. There is nothing for a school to sell against it.
