The Wyoming Surplus Lines Broker license
Surplus Lines Broker
Deals directly with non-admitted insurers and reports and remits the surplus lines tax. A producer who merely sends business to a surplus lines brokerage needs nothing, which the Department states in its own words.

-
an active surplus lines license in the applicant's resident state, which a nonresident applicant must hold
The Department opens by narrowing who needs it, which is unusual and useful: "Only those individuals and firms that deal directly with surplus lines insurers are required to have a surplus lines broker license. An individual producer contacts a surplus lines brokerage or managing general agency to place coverage in non-admitted markets does not need a surplus lines broker license."Licensed brokers may take business from licensed producers, and carry the reporting and tax remittance. The $10,000 bond sits between Washington's two, at $20,000 and $2,500, and below Maine's $20,000 and Alabama's $50,000. No examination is named on the page and no course, which puts Wyoming with Maine and against Alabama, Washington and Hawaii, all of which examine.

No national seller sells a course for this license. The Department names no examination for it: the qualification is a $10,000 bond, and for a nonresident an active surplus lines license at home.
