The Wyoming Public Adjuster license

Public Adjuster

Acts for the insured rather than the insurer, and Wyoming puts it somewhere no other state does: the public adjuster line of authority sits under the consultant license, and the paper is the Property and Casualty Consultant exam.

Every way to qualify

  1. Route 1 Pass the Property and Casualty Consultant examination

    State exam required

The paper, which belongs to another license

    • The Wyoming Property and Casualty Consultant examination, exam code 47, sat through Pearson VUE; there is no public adjuster paper

    and fingerprints, after the application

    • A fingerprint background check, for which the Department mails a fingerprinting packet after the application has been received rather than before

The Department's consultant page is where the arrangement is stated plainly: "The public adjuster line of authority is included under the consultant license in Wyoming."So the license underneath is the consultant's, the paper is the Property and Casualty Consultant examination at code 47, and the only thing that differs from an ordinary consultant application is the form, a Wyoming Public Adjuster License Application rather than a producer application. Thirty-nine states here issue a public adjuster license, counting the files whose slug is exactly public-adjuster or public-insurance-adjuster and leaving out the trainees, solicitors, apprentices, emergency variants and Connecticut's property public adjuster, which would make it forty-five. None of the others reaches it through a consultant license: Maine folds the work into its ordinary adjuster license at 1402(1), Wyoming folds it into the consultant. Applications are paper and mailed with a $100 check to the Wyoming State Treasurer. A nonresident must be licensed at home, and may use a designated home state where the home state licenses no public adjusters.

No national seller sells a course for this license, and the reason is precise. Wyoming examines a public adjuster on the Property and Casualty Consultant paper, exam code 47. A.D. Banker does sell Wyoming consultant preparation, in life, health and life and health variants, and none of the three is the property and casualty paper this license sits.
