Virginia Life and Annuities qualification

an active Virginia insurance producer license carrying the Life and Annuities line of authority
and securities examination

a pass in the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Series 6 examination

a pass in the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Series 7 examination
The Bureau states both halves: a resident applicant must hold a Life and Annuities line of authority, and all applicants are required to have passed either the Series 6 or the Series 7 FINRA examination. No Virginia examination and no Virginia course. Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Utah and West Virginia all build their variable line the same way and none of them builds it identically.
