Every way to qualify

  1. Route 1 Hold a producer license for two years and post the scaled bond

No state exam for this license

The producer license and the time behind it

    • 2 years an insurance producer license held with not less than two years’ experience as an insurance producer

and the bond or letter of credit, sized by settlement volume

    • A surety bond or letter of credit solely in favor of the Commissioner, sized by the annual aggregate life settlement payments attributable to the licensee to Vermont policy owners: not less than $25,000 up to $2,000,000; $50,000 to $5,000,000; $75,000 to $15,000,000; and more above that

No examination and no course. DFR's list is at least eighteen, and competent, trustworthy and financially responsible in the Commissioner’s judgment; a surety bond or letter of credit solely in favor of the state; an insurance producer license; and not less than two years' experience as an insurance producer. The bond is the part worth reading twice, because it is not a flat figure: it scales in four bands with the annual aggregate life settlement payments the licensee makes to Vermont policy owners, from $25,000 at the bottom band to more than $100,000 at the top. It is the only bond on this site sized by the licensee's own turnover rather than set by the state in advance.

No national seller sells a course for this license. There is no examination and no course: the qualification is a producer license held two years plus a bond scaled to settlement volume. What sellers carry for the underlying license is on the Life page.
