Reinsurance Manager

Manages the reinsurance of a Texas insurer. It has no examination and no course, and the qualification is three years of experience in insurance or reinsurance rather than anything sat or studied.

Course

None

This license has no pre-licensing course route.

Every way to qualify

More than one route leads to this license, and which one you take changes what you study and whether you sit the exam. There is no pre-licensing course among them: this license is qualified for by experience or a license held in another state.

  1. Route 1 Have more than three years in insurance or reinsurance

No state exam for this license

    • 3 years More than three years of experience in insurance or reinsurance, given in detail on the Application for Reinsurance Intermediary License (Form FIN510)

TDI puts the bar in one sentence: before you can apply for a reinsurance manager license you must have more than three years of experience in insurance or reinsurance, detailed on Form FIN510. No examination and no course anywhere on the page. The management contract goes to TDI separately for review under Tex. Ins. Code 4152.151 and 4152.204.

  2. Route 2 Hold the same license in a reciprocal state

No state exam for this license

    • a reinsurance manager license in good standing in a reciprocal state

TDI's page waives the examination for a non-resident who holds the license in good standing in a reciprocal state. It is a waiver of the examination and not of the application: the fee, the fingerprints and the Sircon filing all stand.
