The South Dakota Utilization Review Organization license

Utilization Review Organization

Decides whether somebody else's medical care will be paid for. South Dakota registers it rather than licensing it, and the chapter it lives in was rewritten around benefit determinations rather than around the reviewer.

Every way to qualify

  1. Route 1 Register with the Division

No state exam for this license

    The registration

    • A utilization review organization registration under SDCL chapter 58-17H, Utilization Review and Benefit Determinations. The Division publishes a registration application requirement checklist and an additional information page.

    and the qualification

    • There is no examination and no course. What the chapter regulates is the process: what a utilization review organization must do, in what time, before a benefit determination stands.

SDCL chapter 58-17H. It is the same instrument Georgia calls a private review agent and Nebraska a utilization review agent, and South Dakota carries it under a third name again.

No national seller sells a course for this license. Aceable does not sell South Dakota at all. There is no examination and no course. What chapter 58-17H regulates is the review process rather than the reviewer's education.
