South Dakota runs two tracks and publishes a separate application requirement checklist for each: a Third Party Administrator license and a Third Party Administrator registration, with their own renewal checklists. The Division's Other License Types page carries all four documents.

SDCL chapter 58-29D, Regulation of Life and Health Administrators. There is no examination and no pre-licensing course; the qualification is corporate, financial and contractual.
SDCL chapter 58-29D. The two-track structure is the thing worth knowing: an administrator that qualifies for the lighter treatment registers, and the rest are licensed, and the Division's checklists are where the difference is set out for an applicant. Nothing about either is examined.
