How to qualify

Rhode Island asks neither a prelicensing course nor an examination for this license, and that was read at the Department rather than left blank here: there is no route to show because there is nothing to qualify.

The Department publishes an instruction sheet for this line and its requirement checklist is the whole qualification: the completed application, a copy of the Rhode Island Attorney General’s background report, and the $120 fee. For a non-resident it is the application, $130, and a background check from the resident state where that state does not license title insurance producers, which the sheet says are Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa and Illinois. There is no examination step in it and Pearson publishes no Rhode Island title paper. The fee regulation confirms where this line sits: 230-RICR-20-50-5 5.4(B)(1) prices "title insurance producers" inside the ordinary insurance producer license fee, alongside the major lines and all the limited ones, rather than giving title a schedule of its own the way Arizona and Vermont do. No national seller offers a product against this license. Sellers do carry title products in other states.
