The Ohio Funeral Expense license
Funeral Expense
Sells insurance that pays for funeral or burial goods and services. Ohio will not issue it to anybody who is not already a licensed funeral director in the state, so the gate on this line is another regulator's examination.

an Ohio funeral director license, held at the time of application

-
A criminal records check requested under Ohio Revised Code 3905.051, which every resident individual applicant for a limited lines license must ask for.
O.A.C. 3901-5-09(F)(2)(d): funeral expense insurance sold to provide for payment of funeral or burial goods and services under Revised Code 3905.45 and 3905.451, "so long as the agent is also a licensed funeral director in this state". The funeral director license is the Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors', not the Department of Insurance's, so the gate on this line is somebody else's examination and somebody else's renewal. Ohio Revised Code 3905.45 is what the cover is: a policy whose proceeds pay funeral or burial expenses, and 3905.451 keeps it out of the preneed rules. O.A.C. 3901-5-09(F)(3) is the sentence that covers every Ohio limited line: "No pre-licensing education, licensing examination or continuing education is required for a limited lines license."The Department says it too, on its own limited lines page. A company appointment is not needed to apply and is needed before anything is sold.

Ohio requires no course and no examination for any limited line, and says so in its own rule. No national seller prices a product for this one.
