No state exam for this license

Insurance Law 2106 sets no examination and no course. A license issued to a firm or association authorizes every member and any designated employee; one issued to a corporation authorizes every officer, any designated employee and the directors, and all of them are named in the application. Four kinds of person are outside the definition in 2101(f) and need no license for the work: New York attorneys acting professionally, an authorized insurer's own salaried officers, employees and attorneys in fact, licensed agents placing or accepting reinsurance on risks they produced or manage, and licensed brokers placing reinsurance on risks they produced. A business entity's license expires on 31 August of even-numbered years.

New York sets no examination and no course for a reinsurance intermediary. No national seller prices a reinsurance product.
