A pre-licensing course in basic instruction in the kinds of insurance the limited license covers, the disclosures Insurance Law 2131(e) requires, and an acknowledgement to the customer that the cover is not required and may duplicate cover they already hold, approved by the Department
This is a course requirement that lands on somebody other than the person who will sell. Insurance Law 2131(h) makes the licensed company run the training and file the program with the superintendent for approval before use, and 2131(g) then lets any salaried employee or authorized sales representative who has been through it act under the license. There is no examination, no continuing education and no hour count anywhere in the section. The Department's own card for this license names three kinds of company; 2131 names four, and the one its card leaves out is the peer-to-peer car sharing program administrator. The definition in 2101(i) is narrower still and reaches only the rental of motor vehicles. On the wireless and self-storage side, 2131(h)(4) lets the training materials be written by a licensed insurance agent instead of by the licensee.

A course is required and nobody sells one
Nothing here is for sale, because the licensed company writes the syllabus and the superintendent approves that company's own program. A school cannot supply it. No national seller prices a limited agent product.
