Route 2 Hold a New York life line of authority for at least a year
Exempt from the state exam

1 year Insurance producer with a life line of authority licensed in New York
Insurance Law 2137(f)(1)(A) requires neither the examination nor prelicensing education of this applicant.

Route 3 Substitute a year of duties held before or after armed forces service
State exam required

1 year Regularly employed by a life settlement provider, life insurance company, life settlement broker or an insurance producer with a life line of authority, in responsible duties relating to the use of life insurance and annuity contracts in the design and administration of plans for estate conservation and distribution, employee benefits and business continuation, and settlements of life insurance and annuity contracts. The year falls in the three years before entering the armed forces of the United States, or immediately after discharge, and the application is filed within one year of discharge.
Insurance Law 2137(f)(2) removes the prelicensing education only. The examination still applies.

Route 4 Hold the license, or a life line, in a home state that licenses New Yorkers on the same basis
Exempt from the state exam

1 year Non-resident life settlement broker, or an insurance producer with a life line of authority in the applicant's home state, held for at least one year, where that state grants non-resident licenses to New York residents on the same basis.
