    • An application under the Viatical Settlements Act, on which the superintendent decides whether to license the applicant as a provider.

Chapter 59A, Article 20A, the Viatical Settlements Act, with the fee at 59A-6-1(N)(1): $1,000 to file the application and have the license issued, and $400 for the biennial continuation. The comparison that matters is on the same page of the fee schedule. A viatical settlement broker, who acts for the owner selling the policy, pays $100 and $200; the provider, who buys it, pays ten times the first figure and twice the second. New Mexico prices a brokerage business entity like a broker rather than like a provider. There is no examination and no pre-licensing course for either side.

New Mexico sets no examination and no course for the viatical settlement provider. No national seller prices a product for it.
