No state exam for this license

    Responsible individual

    • An employee or officer of the vendor designated as the individual responsible for the vendor's compliance with the Portable Electronics Insurance Act. Where the vendor earns more than half its revenue from selling this insurance, the same information is required for every officer, director and shareholder of record holding ten per cent or more of any registered class of securities.

    and home office

    • The location of the applicant's home office, stated on the application.

NMSA 59A-12-18(B) issues the license and 59A-60-3 requires it: a vendor must hold a limited producer license to sell or offer portable electronics insurance, and that license then authorizes any employee or authorized representative of the vendor to sell at each location where the vendor does portable electronics transactions. A location is defined at 59A-60-2(C) to include any web site, call center site or similar location directed at New Mexico residents. The registry of authorized locations is kept by the supervising entity rather than filed with the state, and the superintendent may inspect it on reasonable notice during business hours. The Portable Electronics Insurance Act took effect on 1 July 2013.
