A license for a machine rather than for a person. New Mexico issues one per machine, at $25 each, to a producer who wants to sell travel accident policies out of a box at an airport.

    Producer license

    • a New Mexico insurance producer license, held by the person who will supervise the machine

    and the superintendent's five findings

    • That the policy provides reasonable coverage and benefits, is suitable for sale and issuance by vending machine, and that a machine in the proposed location would be of material convenience to the public; that the type of machine is reasonably suitable; that reasonable means are provided for informing purchasers of coverages and restrictions; that reasonable means are provided for refunding money put into a defective machine; and that the cost of maintaining the machine at that location is reasonable.

    NMSA 59A-12-23. The authority is narrow on every axis: only a licensed insurance producer may apply, only personal travel accident policies may be sold, only an authorized insurer's, and only at airports and other places of convenience to the traveling public. The license names the machine and its location, and the fee schedule at 59A-6-1(G) prices it per machine, $25 to issue and $50 to continue biennially, so an operator of ten machines holds ten licenses. Oklahoma does the same thing under 1435.23(A)(4)(j) and charges $100 a machine, so this is the second of its kind here and the cheaper one. Georgia's limited credit agency license and Idaho's county-by-county title agent are the same idea applied to a payroll and to a map.

The qualification is a producer license already held plus five findings about a machine, so there is no course to sell. No national seller prices a product for it.
