Course
10 hrs
The shortest single course route.
Ways in
3
1 of them skips the state exam.
Exam
$47
Required on some routes and not others.
Every way to qualify
More than one route leads to this license, and which one you take changes what you study and whether you sit the exam. They are listed in full because the course is only the first of them.
-
Route 1 Take the 10-hour course
State exam required
-
10 hours of pre-licensing education for the Limited Lines - Bail Bonds line, approved by the Department
The Department counts these as classroom hours and lets an approved provider deliver them as self study, so a self-paced course is not disqualified here the way it is in Illinois. The twenty hours absorb the fifteen hours of insurance regulation the state used to require on top.

Route 2 Show equivalent college coursework in insurance
State exam required
-
A degree in insurance. An official transcript is required
Reason 2 on the Department's education waiver form: equivalent college courses taken, with a transcript showing the credits and the official course description from the college catalog. No degree is asked for and no number of credits is set, which is why no figure is shown here. The waiver is worth ninety days rather than a license: the form's own certification says it is "only valid for the ninety days during which time I can take the examination multiple times", so somebody who waits four months takes the course after all.

Route 3 Take the course having held this line as a resident of another state
Exempt from the state exam
Pre-licensing education
-
10 hours of pre-licensing education for the Limited Lines - Bail Bonds line, approved by the Department
and resident license elsewhere
-
A resident license for the Limited Lines - Bail Bonds line in another state, either current or inactive for less than ninety days
The Department waives the examination for somebody who previously held a resident license for the same lines in another state where that license is current or went inactive inside ninety days. It is written up under the examination question and nowhere else. The education is shown here as still owed, because the Department's education waiver form lists three reasons and a license in another state is not one of them, so the two documents together say the examination goes and the course stays. Tennessee's title line and Washington's crop adjuster are the only other places here that drop the examination and keep the course, which is why the reason is spelled out rather than assumed.

A course is required and nobody sells one
The New Jersey products sellers do carry are all for a major producer line or for the adjuster paper; Aceable sells nothing in New Jersey at all. New Jersey asks for no course on this line and gives no paper for it, so there is nothing to sell.
