Every way to qualify

  1. Route 1 File the warrantor registration record and keep it current

No state exam for this license

    The registration record

    • An annual registration record naming the warrantor and any fictitious names, its principal office and telephone number, its agent for service of process, the executive officers directly responsible for the vehicle protection product business, and any administrator designated to administer the warranties in Minnesota, updated within 30 days of any change

    and what goes with it

    • A copy of the warranty reimbursement insurance policy or the other financial information section 59C.05 requires, a copy of every warranty proposed for use in Minnesota, a statement of which provision of 59C.05 the warrantor qualifies under, and $250 annually

Minn. Stat. 59C.04, subd. 5 is the sentence worth carrying and it answers a question this phase has had to ask state by state: "An administrator or person who sells or solicits a sale of a vehicle protection product but who is not a warrantor shall not be required to register as a warrantor or be licensed under the insurance laws of this state to sell vehicle protection products."So the counter staff and the administrator are both outside the scheme and only the obligor registers, which is how Washington and Hawaii run theirs too. Subdivision 3 also puts the warrantor's name and its process agent on the public record while leaving the rest of the file alone. $250 a year, and 30 days to complete a renewal before the commissioner suspends the registration.

No national seller sells a course for this license, and nothing could: chapter 59C registers a warrantor on a filing and a fee, and expressly says that a person selling a vehicle protection product who is not the warrantor needs no registration or license at all.
