Keeps a book of business running when the producer who wrote it dies or is disabled. It is issued without regard to the examination requirements, it costs $27, and it is the only Maryland license with no renewal fee at all because it cannot be renewed.

  1. Route 1 Apply as the person left holding the business

    No state exam for this license

    • The surviving spouse, next of kin, personal representative or appointee of the personal representative of a deceased insurance producer, or the spouse, next of kin, employee or legal guardian of a mentally or physically disabled insurance producer, and otherwise qualified.

    Md. Code, Insurance 10-120(a) opens "Without regard to the examination requirements of this subtitle", which is the same construction Maryland uses for its travel line at 10-122 and its health maintenance organization line at 10-124, and it is the whole reason no paper stands in front of this license. The Administration's fee table prices it at $27 and prints no renewal or reinstatement figure against it.

No national seller sells a course for this license. The Maryland products sellers do carry are all for a major producer line or for the adjuster paper; Aceable sells nothing in Maryland at all. The temporary license is issued without regard to the examination requirements, so there is nothing to prepare for.
