    State exam required

Iowa Code 522A.3(7): a rental company counter employee must successfully pass an examination covering the insurance products the company offers with its rentals, approved and administered by the Insurance Division or by a vendor the Division has approved under 522A.6, and must then file an application with the Commissioner for an individual license. There is no course. The approval runs to the examiner rather than to any course: 522A.6 asks a vendor for at least two years of teaching experience on the products and tells the Commissioner to use the qualified vendor closest in proximity to where the counter employee works, and it lets the Commissioner approve a rental company itself as a qualifying vendor. Two clocks worth knowing. The application is deemed approved unless the Commissioner rejects it within thirty days, and 522A.3(11) ends the license when the employment ends. The counter employee must be at least eighteen under 522A.2(2).

No national seller sells a course for this license. There is an examination and it is not one anybody can prepare a national product for: Iowa Code 522A.3(7) has it approved and administered by the Insurance Division or by a vendor the Division approves under 522A.6, on the specific insurance products the employing rental company offers.
