Self-Service Storage Facility Limited Line

The disclosure at every location
-
Brochures or other written materials readily available at every rental location where agreements are executed, summarising the material terms and naming the insurer, disclosing that the cover may duplicate the renter's own homeowner, motor or personal liability policy, stating that buying it is not required in order to rent storage space, and describing how to claim. Evidence of cover is provided to each renter who buys.
and the training the facility gives
-
The facility conducts a training program in which the employees being trained receive basic instruction about the cover the section allows. 500-107(c) authorizes any employee to act individually on the licensee's behalf and under its supervision, so the license is the operator's and not the clerk's.
215 ILCS 5/500-107(a) allows hazard cover for the loss of or damage to a tenant's tangible personal property in storage or in transit during the rental period, and "any other coverage the Director may approve as meaningful and appropriate in connection with the rental of storage space", which is a wider grant of discretion than the car rental section's closed list of five. There is no examination and no pre-licensing course.
