Every way to qualify

  1. Route 1 Apply as the vendor, from the home office

No state exam for this license

    • A sworn application naming the employee or officer of the vendor designated as responsible for the vendor's compliance with the Act, with the residential address and whatever else the Director requires, and the location of the applicant's home office. Where the vendor derives more than 50 percent of its revenue from selling portable electronics insurance the same information is required for every officer, director and shareholder of record holding 10 percent or more of any class of registered securities.

215 ILCS 136/10(a) requires the limited-lines license to sell or offer portable electronics cover, and (b) makes one license authorize any employee or authorized representative of the vendor at every location the vendor trades from, which is the opposite of the car rental section's treatment of franchisees. 136/10(c) puts the register of authorized vendor locations in the hands of the supervising entity rather than the Department, open to the Director's inspection on ten days' notice. There is no examination and no pre-licensing course anywhere in the Act.

No national seller sells a course for this license, which is what an unexamined license held by a retailer rather than by a person looks like.
