Every way to qualify

  1. Route 1 Hold a life producer license for a year, then register

    No state exam for this license

    • 1 year An active Connecticut resident Producer license with a Life line of authority

    • or

      1 year An active Producer license with a Life line of authority in the applicant's home state, held for a year, plus an active Connecticut non-resident Producer license

    Conn. Gen. Stat. 38a-465a(c) deems a life producer of a year's standing to have met the licensing requirements of the section and permits them to operate as a broker; 38a-465a(d) makes them notify the commissioner within thirty days of the first day of operating as one, on the commissioner's form and with a filing fee, acknowledging that they will operate under the life settlement part. So the filing follows the work rather than preceding it. The registration is not a line of authority and cannot be amended on its own, it needs no renewal of its own and lives as long as the producer license under it, and it is not required at all of somebody who already holds the full Life Settlement Broker license. The one thing it saves besides the fee is the fifteen hours: 38a-465a(p) exempts a life producer operating as a broker from the biennial life settlement training the licensed broker owes.

The registration is a filing rather than a qualification. It asks for a Connecticut life producer license held for a year and nothing taught, and there is no examination.
