The Colorado Limited Lines Self-Storage license

Section 10-4-1702(1), C.R.S. makes a supervising entity hold a limited lines self-storage insurance producer license before it may sell, solicit or negotiate self-storage insurance, and 10-4-1703(1)(a) asks for the ordinary producer application without the officer and director schedule. Section 10-4-1707 then removes all three of the usual qualifications in one sentence: notwithstanding anything else in the part, any rule and any order of the commissioner, a supervising entity is not required to meet the prelicensure education requirements in 10-2-201, the continuing education requirements in 10-2-301, or the examination requirements in 10-2-402. The training in this part belongs to the licensee. Section 10-4-1705(1) makes the supervising entity develop a training program and require every individual working for or on behalf of the self-storage retailer to attend it, and 10-4-1705(2) sets its minimum content, which is mostly prohibition: what the cover is, what disclosures are owed, and that the person at the counter may not hold themselves out as a licensed producer of any kind or evaluate the occupant's existing insurance.
